Very good. Very easy to watch.

One of the few good things the BBC has been able to make recently.

Re: The Detectorists
And it's just "Detectorists".

If you end up watching it, you know they're very particular about what they are called.

Re: The Detectorists
I'm assuming Len is talking about The Detectorist's show not Detectorists in general?

I'm assuming you're not aware the show is just called "Detectorists"?

And I also assume you haven't seen it, as it's a running joke that they're very particular about what they're called, which I've attempted to carry on here.

Yes, it's a good show and beautifully shot. I haven't got round to seeing the latest Christmas special yet. Will check it out on iPlayer when I get the inclination.

Re: The Detectorists
Absolutely superb - one of my all-time favourites. It's not a laugh-out-loud type of comedy, but very subtle, gentle, and very English humour. Full of great characters, brilliantly written. Diana Rigg has a small part in it, and Andy's Mrs is played by her daughter.

Re: The Detectorists
Andy's Mrs (Diana Rigg's daughter) is an absolute rocket. Rachael Sterling is the actress' name. She is married to that fat Northern monkey Guy Garvey from Elbow. He's definitely punching looks wise.

Also, someone mentioned Early Doors. What a superb and criminally underrated show that is. Fantastic and much better than The Royle Family in my opinion.

Re: The Detectorists
Detectorists is the bollocks, right up there with blackadder.

Xmas special was a bit moany and serious which isnt what the show is about, so not as good.

And only discovered early hours a couple of weeks ago when it dropped back on Ty, love it so far.

A lovely, easy-going comedy. Toby Jones is the bollocks, fantastic actor.
Not side-splittingly funny, but gently humorous, clever and very well written.
Has a Last Of The Summer Wine vibe about it, but with the benefit of added humour.
Thought the end of the second series, when it all finally paid off for them, was great.
Seemed to me like they tried to replicate this with the Christmas Special. No bad thing, but seemed a little contrived.
Very enjoyable nonetheless. Probably still one of the best programmes on over the Christmas break.

I love it, right down to the music at the end

Also really like This Country, which is vaguely similar in pace and humour.
